About

People for Honest Politics is a group of Campbell County residents committed to bringing honesty and civility back to our local politics. Our initial goal is to get 5,000 residents to sign on to the following statement, “As a Campbell County resident, I want my local elected officials to know I do not support laws and government actions that limit our constitutional right to free speech.”

We started People for Honest Politics because the Library Board terminated Terri Lesley, and the County Commissioners did not stop what we believe is an unlawful and unconstitutional termination. The termination of Terri Lesley is the latest in a multi-year effort by some elected officials to undermine our constitution and our rule-of-law government because of their personal or religious beliefs.

Our goal is to bring our community together, united around our belief in American democracy. Specifically, we believe in freedom of speech, freedom of expression, and freedom to access information. The Constitution states that the government cannot limit free speech and that includes a prohibition on limiting the people’s access to information. Yet, our local elected officials have, and continue to, use their positions to erode the free exchange of information.

Enough is enough. We are asking you, our fellow Campbell County residents, to tell our current and aspiring elected officials that they represent all of us and took an oath to uphold the Constitution for the whole community.
